Battles From the Age of Reason Primer, 2022 Edition

The BAR Primer is an enjoyable, user-friendly source for those who want to learn the Battles from the Age of Reason (BAR) game system or those who want to improve their knowledge of the system. Included in the BAR Primer are illustrated, easy-to-read explanations and examples of all of the most important BAR rules. There is a section on BAR tactics and a programmed instruction Learning Modules section that will allow gamers to gradually and painlessly learn the system.  The BAR Primer also includes a section of charts that are exclusive to the BAR Primer.

The BAR Primer is compatible with all BAR games provided the gamer has any version of the BAR v3 rules.  The only exception is the two pages of learning modules which require the "Melle" map.  The BAR v3 rules are not included in the Primer.

The 2022 edition of the BAR Primer has corrected all known errata and made a few clarifications. For new material, there is a section on “Limited Activations” and "Enfilade and Outflank".  The charts from the BAR Primer have been collected together at the back for easy printing. This pdf file is formatted so that if it is printed with a duplex printer, it will print the proper front and back pages together.

Update and errata counters for all previous BAR games were included as part of the original BAR Primer. These are (obviously) not included with this pdf file, but they can still be purchased from Wargame Vault.  Also, there is a limited stock of these counters available--contact Clash of Arms Games for purchasing information.
