The preview pdf is of the beta and does not include army lists, are they included in the full version? Because webpages have been known to not exist forever.

Heinz,
I don't believe there is a plan to make a hardcopy version in print because the lists are meant to be actively updated as new data is found, but perhaps a printable version of the online database would be possible? Would suggest moving this question to the Triumph forum.

I'm new to the game. I've played DBM, and DBA for years. i'm thinking of doing a East Frankish or Ottonian Frankish Army. Can anyone recommend a good figure manufacture? I've seen the Army list. How many points do we get allocated for us to create our Army? Thanks for the help.

Hi James - Glad you are giving Triumph! a try. While I am not sure about a good figure manufacturer for the Frankish, I would suggest you join our Triumph forum at forum.wgcwar.com and ask there. The standard Triumph army is 48 points.

How close to a final product is the Washington Company? I am interested in seeing how long it takes to finish the rules and finalize the army lists before I buy.

Hi Kristopher - We are not certain of the exact date for finishing the rules, but I will try to represent that current status as best I can. The rules are playable right now (and have been since November 2016) to recreate entire battles in the standard game. The standard game rules are approx 95% stable right now with only some small tweaks remaining. The online army database at http://meshwesh.wgcwar.com will continue to evolve as we improve it and expand it in terms of presentation and functionality. Over 90% of the army lists are very stable right now with only a small subset still truly in a draft state. We are working on Grand TRIUMPH! multiplayer rules, Battle Cards to support the system, and diagrams for easy reference. Our online player forum is available at http://forum.wgcwar.com/ Please join us there!

How does this wargame (a light wargame with all army lists included) to a similar game that costs a third of the admission fee, Basic Impetus 2?

I was an enthusiastic player of DBA and DBM. My preference was always BBDBA and Triumph! surpasses that experience. The designers are approachable and will happily answer any questions. How refreshing. I look forward to new opponents as this rules set takes off.

It is much better than DBA v3.0.

Why?

Mainly because it is written in understandable English.

It does not allow the massive movement rates of DBA v3.0 (ones of the ways DBA v3.0 fails in).

It has a points system, so armies are not always twelve elements.

The game plays well, provides closely fought battles.

It also has a on-line database for the army lists.

Your payment provides for updates and the eventual released version.

Try it, you will be convinced.

Agree with you. I've been looking for something smaller than DBM (I love those big 6+ hour DBM400 120x180cm table, games but as I get older, energy & time run out!) DBA & BBDBA never really filled the gap. I found DBA with it's equal elements a side, movement restrictions, square board, etc too "chess-like" to truly simulate an Ancients battle.
Have bought the rules but still to play.
I see your post was 2016. Just wondering how you've found Truimph! since then?

Why should I buy Triumph when I have heard that it is effectively DBA 2.2. I already own DBA, what changes have you made that will make me want to spend $20 CAD on your early access edition? Thanks.

Have you heard this from anyone that has actually played it or even read the rules? It's not DBA 2.2, while it may have a few familiar mechanics it is a new game. New troop types, new terrain and deployment setup, new army lists with point builds, new movement mechanics and distances....

Thanks for replying to my inquiry. I'm just wondering if it's worth picking up if I'm already playing and enjoying DBA 3.0. Is it different enough that I would have a different gaming experience? Thanks.

It's different enough in my opinion... I have played and own multiple different DBx style games including DBM and DBA 3.0. Triumph certainly has some similar mechanics like rolling a D6 for actions or command points and it uses contest rolls for stands in combat, but the difference in setup and play are significantly different after that. The point system alone really changes the dynamics of play. For $15 my recommendation is try it, or if you are still concerned about the cost, try a demo first. But after paying for the DBA 3.0 hardcover, I thought $15 was a pretty good deal for an early access game with 646 armies available online.

Hi Vidal,

I am in the Niagara region. Where are you in Canada? Perhaps we can get together for a game.

Hi William,

I live in Kitchener-Waterloo. Maybe we can get together for a game. Do you ever get out this way to Hotlead?

Hi Vidal,

I used to run the DBA 2.2+ events at Hot Lead, but I've stopped now that I am playing Triumph! There are few DBA 3.0 events at Hot Lead this year.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
