7th Kind
by Brian
Publisher: Pinnacle Entertainment
Date Added: 03/24/2024 08:42:09
pixel_trans.gif 7th Kind This game is well-designed and quite a treat. PCs wake up in an unknown room and have to navigate a series of challenges related to aliens. It's got a range of different types of encounters and a nice broad range of pre-generated PCs to choose from. You could use this in a number of ways; it would be a great one-shot to introduce folks to Savage Worlds, as a fun romp in between campaign sessions, or to use when not everyone in your gaming group could make it. The adventure does not have art but in spite of that, its a fantastic value. Highly recommmend....

The Radiance Adventure Engine
by A customer
Publisher: OddFish Games
Date Added: 03/24/2024 00:48:15
pixel_trans.gif The Radiance Adventure Engine Its hard to give this product a good review. It seems like an interesting but as a print and play/ digital presentation it just stinks. On the vast majority of cards the text is white overlayed on top of some kind of image this makes the text nearly illegible when viewed on pc. To print these at home would use an obscene amount of ink and there is really no need for it. Granted there are a lot of cards where the art is used for inspiration but these can be separate from the cards that are purely for reading. Also, I've been trying to hand convert the cards into something more useable using various tools but there are so many cards its not really worth my time. Its a shame, as it seems like a pretty well thought out system. The publisher should update this product with a plain, text only version that is easier to read and print....

Cowboy Bebop Roleplaying Game - Corebook
by Michael
Publisher: Mana Project Studio
Date Added: 03/23/2024 21:02:59
pixel_trans.gif Cowboy Bebop Roleplaying Game - Corebook I apologize for the poor formatting of this review. DriveThruRPG won't let me add additional returns to make it easier to read. After a couple sessions with this game, it's become clear to my group that it has some problems. -The rules are just not well explained. They're very different from most tabletop RPGs, and that means extra care should be taken explaining them. That care was not taken. I had to read the book several times and write up my own linear summary to try to deal with the nonlinear way the game is explained. In addition to this poor organization, some concepts and responsibilities aren't explained well. In particular, they need to make the Big Shot's responsibilities clearer. How much of the bounty and the story are supposed to be created by the players? Who thought it was a good idea for the Big Shot to give the session a name at the beginning when the narrative power is supposed to be mostly in the hands of the players, who might render that title irrelevant? Wha...

Daggerheart Open Beta Playtest
by Levi
Publisher: Darrington Press
Date Added: 03/23/2024 20:37:52
pixel_trans.gif Daggerheart Open Beta Playtest I feel like this game shows promise, and I am excited by the developers offering a free open beta. For anyone interested, the playtest is definitely fun, and my review is from the perspective of providing feedback for a finished ttrpg experience. To me, the positive is a strong foundation, and the negative can be fixed with some minor numeric tweaking. The Positive: The game does a great job establishing itself as a collaborative story telling experience. It encourages players to add to the setting and engage with the narrative rather than focusing on combat mechanics. While these elements could probably be added to most tables or game systems, the fact that DH puts them front and center does a lot to set the tone of the game. The Negative: The low level experience is too cluttered with odd resources, mechanically punishes players for risk taking, and does not have balanced monster design. Of these, as the GM, I felt the worst was watching my players burn up their armor resource agai...

FlexTale Hexcrawl Toolkit (multisystem: Pathfinder, P2E, 5E, OSR, DCC)
by Richard
Publisher: Infinium Game Studios
Date Added: 03/23/2024 18:41:45
pixel_trans.gif FlexTale Hexcrawl Toolkit (multisystem: Pathfinder, P2E, 5E, OSR, DCC) I really like this product, there is a LOT of information in it for designing maps used for hex crawls. And I am starting to make use of it. Up front I want to let you know that the tile is slightly misleading. It is multisystem, period. Actually it is system neutral. This is not a book that you will enjoy reading cover to cover, rather it is designed to be dipped into in for the information you need at a specific time. The problem is, until I had read a good chunk, I hadn't realized that. The book is in desperate need of a solid introduction with practical guidance on how to use it. Oh, it has an introduction with some useful information, but it doesn't tell you how to use the material to put together a hex or a series of hexes. Rather it spends its time describing the table of contents (repeatedly), and overviews the physical layout of each topic. Using the author's Toolkit metaphor, it is like giving someone a fully stocked tool kit with a page of instructions that essent...

Dead of Night
by Charles
Publisher: SteamPower Publishing
Date Added: 03/23/2024 15:27:56
pixel_trans.gif Dead of Night Decent rules-light RPG for survival horror one-shots and short campaigns. Biggest flaw is the poorly-described "specialisations" mechanic. A list of possible "specialisations" examples would have gone a long way in helping GMs undertand exactly how this mechanic works versus Attributes. That aside, the game runs smooth. Characters are not superhuman monster hunters but real people struggling to survive. It can be quite deadly but players can quickly roll up a new character. I like it.

by Kevin

pixel_trans.gif The Deck of Destiny: Solo-RPG Adventures Definitely worth buying. Two modes allows the player to play through a campaign quickly (1-2 hours) or journaling mode where the player writes about the adventure in a much more creative way. Very rules and equipment light, which makes it a great game to take with you when traveling. I hope more adventures come out in the near future.

pixel_trans.gif Conduit: High Accuracy Blaster Class Great class, definitely not overpowered and has a great play feel. I haven't played it past level 10, but it really shines as a kind of magical ranged blaster single target DPS. Lots of room for flavor and re-skinning too. Worth the price and comes with a FoundryVTT module to make dropping it in your game easy. I haven't had to make any adjustments to this class for my players, it has a lot of polish. 8.5/10.

pixel_trans.gif Size Matters I purchased this and ran it years ago and would find myself running it multiple times since. It's a fun, easy to understand adventure that does a good job of teaching players basics as well as challenging their problem solving skills and creativity. I generally use it as the one shot to introduce new players to Savage Worlds. It's family friendly and good for all ages. Concise and well written. This should be in your quiver of games for sure!

The Phoenix Initiative
by James
Publisher: Mongoose
Date Added: 03/23/2024 03:53:00
pixel_trans.gif The Phoenix Initiative I have purchased and run through the start of this adventure so far. A good plot, and a patron that can be extended which is great. An easy to follow build up and opportunity to purchase equipment before a surface crawl then investigation of a research laboratory. Lots of possibilities to add your own flavour and leaves some good threads open for follow up with other adventures.
