All Hell Let Loose - 6mm WW2 Wargaming by David Wasilewski

All Hell Let Loose is a set of WW2 late war wargaming rules designed and playtested to encourage real-life tactics. Although created specifically for 6mm (or 1/285th scale) miniatures the rules can be used for larger sized miniatures like 10mm with minimal changes.

The rules allow you to play at the scale you choose - either 1 model or stand of infantry represents 1 vehicle or squad/section of infantry or each model or stand can represent a platoon.

Optional rules let you dial up the detail and zoom in on the minutia of combat or skip them to play really big games more quickly.

All Hell Let Loose - 6mm WW2 Wargaming by David Wasilewski

Simple and adaptable late war European theatre army lists with each of the four major powers for that theatre included: British, American, Soviet and German.

A two-page quick reference sheet allows you to play without needing to reference the core rules and the rules include a photocopy ready counter sheet that provides counters for hidden movement, ambush and target markers for indirect fire and aircraft attacks.

Hi Gilles. As my interest and reading is almost exclusively mid/late war, unfortunately no, I never created early war army lists. The Facebook group has shared some early war French and German stat blocks though, so it would be easy for you to play some early war battles if you went for historical OBs?

We have put stats up in the Facebook All Hell Let Loose for early war troops and vehicles. No dedicated lists, but I think you could easily make your own, theatre and time period specific lists using the late war lists as a template

Sorry, no. Just late war European. I never did the pacific theatre as it’s not a part of the war I know much about. The game is simple and sandbox though, so it shouldn’t be too hard to make up your own stats and army lists if you know a lot already about the pacific theatre.

"Grand tactical" - but also suitable for setting up smaller skirmishes?
Is there a solo system or do you just play each side in turn (any hidden information)?

We have play tested with just 3 formations a side and it worked well. I wouldn’t go smaller than that to be honest. Formations are between 6 and 12 units each so yeah, you could do 18 stands a side for a more skirmish type game. There isn’t a specific solo option but the game does work solo - I tried it over lockdown and it worked. The fog of war is represented in a range of ways: Random draw activation so you don’t know which formation is going next. Rolls to see how effective each activation is - will your formation get a partial, normal or good activation. The third way is in the way you can use the optional strategic counters rule. This means all formations start the game represented by a counter which is ‘flipped’ by the proximity of enemy troops. For solo games you could add further uncertainty by randomising which formation is represented by which counter only after they’ve been flipped.

Is there any place to find a quick AAR or rules explanation or Tutorial? I found your site (at least I think it's you or someone connected to you) and looked at your Brecourt Manor tutorial on Camo netting (very cool and very "why the heck didn't I think of that!"). But I don't have enough of a sense of how this game is different from, say, Fistful of TOWs that makes your ruleset worth picking up.

And please understand my intention. I'm trying not to say, "Why should I buy YOUR rules?" in a sing-songy smarmy tone. I would genuinely like to know what you think sets your rules apart and how they encourage the Find, Fix, Flank, and Finish tactics from WWII.

Hi Matthew. No problem.
Find: formations can start the game in strategic mode, represented by counters that are only revealed once enemy forces draw within range
Fix: indirect fire disorders, preventing the enemy from firing back. They will almost certainly spend their orders trying to rally
Flank: Units receive a bonus to destroy enemy afv if they are shooting from the flanks
Finish: unless destroyed outright by a penetrating hit, units degrade as their disorder mounts

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
